The station began broadcasting in 8 September 1996.  It is owned by Al Sha’ab Media Production (Dr. Samir Sorgholi) and the Managing Director is Dr. Raja’ Hazim Sorgholi.

Al Fajr’s primary viewing audience is female, split between those aged 35-44 and those over 55, living above the poverty level in the city.  47% of those who watch say they it is because of the shows it broadcasts while 11% state it is because of their coverage of local issues and events.

Aswatona is supporting two productions with Al Fajr Al Jadeed TV; Tulkarem Today, a daily news magazine of local events, and Tulkarem This Week, a compilation of the week’s top stories.  Programs can also be viewed at
